(China5e.com, Sept 8, 2006) China's power industry consumed 1.1b tons of coals in 2005, accounting for more than 50 per cent of the country's total output of 2.19b tons; the industry consumed 535.47m tons of coals in the first half of 2006, up 8.27 per cent on 2005, a senior official from State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) told First Chinese Business Daily.
