(Yahoo, Sep 13, 2006) - Huaneng Power International Inc. , China's largest independent power producer, said on Wednesday that it had won government approval to build a 9.21 billion yuan ($1.16 billion) coal-fired power plant in China's southern province of Guangdong.
The company will provide 25 percent of the total investment as equity capital and the remaining will be funded by bank loans, it said in a statement.

The Huaneng Shantou Haimen Power Plant phase I will have two 1,000 megawatts generating units, it added. ($1=7.946 YUAN)
