(ChinaCoalResource, Sept 22, 2006) The coal price rose in certain regions last week, even though the summer coal consumption peak has passed. The sales price of 5,000-Kcal coal for power generation in Jinan in eastern coastal Shandong Province increased by RMB 10/ton (USD 2.5/ton). According to a survey made at the end of August by the Eastern China Coal Sales Company, the coal stockpile held by consumers in the region was relatively low, with around 44% of consumers holding dangerously low levels of reserves. In Shanxi Province, the coal price rose in quite a number of areas, with coal sales to other provinces rising after the Datong-Qinhuangdao railway resumed operation after a series of overhauls. In central China, the price of 5,000-Kcal bituminous coal rose by RMB25/ton (USD3.13/ton) in Pingdingshan, Henan Province, with coal consumers starting to store coal in preparation for the winter. source:ChinaCoalResource tag:China |
