DME has bright future

(Oilnews.com, Sept 28, 2006) The development of alcohol-aether fuels has been listed in the Medium and Long term Development Plan for China's Science and Technology. The utilization of methanol gasoline, however, has provoked considerable disputes. Insiders predict that the Chinese Government is not likely to supply project concerning methanol gasoline in coming several years.

National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) promulgated the Notice on Strengthening Management of Coal Chemical Construction Projects and Promoting Healthy Industry Development in July 2006. According to the notice, the Chinese Government will support the development of dimethyl ether (DME) as an alternative fuel.
