(XFN-ASIA, Oct 18, 2006)TOKYO - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd plans to build large gas turbines in China, the first Japanese company to do so abroad, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported, without citing sources. Mitsubishi Heavy will provide Dongfang Steam Turbine Works with technology and technicians for building gas turbines capable of producing 300,000 kilowatts of power, the business daily said. From 2008, it aims to make some 10 each year through the arrangement, lifting its total annual production capacity to more than 40 turbines. The company aims to eventually capture a 30 pct share of the global market, up from 9 pct in 2005, the Nihon Keizai said. (1 usd = 119.90 yen)
