(People's Daily Online, Oct 28, 2006) Arrivals of oil products at Shenzhen, a special economic zone and a major oil import port in south China's Guangdong Province, reversed the downward trend in the first half of the year and increased rapidly in the August-September period. Local customs sources said over the two months, Shenzhen imported 460,000 tons of oil products, a growth of 31.2 percent year-on-year. In the first three quarters, Shenzhen's oil product imports amounted to 1.7 million tons, which were valued at 817 million U.S. dollars, the sources said. Of the total, fuel oil made up 1.19 million tons, or 68.1 percent, including 121,000 tons of aviation kerosine, up 72.9 percent, the sources said. Between January and September, the port imported 520,000 tons of oil products from Japan, up 130 percent, 320,000 tons from the Republic of Korea, up 110 percent, and 304,000 tons of Singapore, up 63.4 percent. |
