China to cut coal, refined oil, alumina import tariffs to 0-3 pct from 3-6 pct

(Forbes, Oct 30, 2006) China will cut the import tariffs on coal, refined oil and alumina to 0-3 pct from 3-6 pct, and adjust the export tariff on coal, coke and crude oil to five pct, the Ministry of Finance said.

According to a statement on the Ministry's website, the administration will cut import tariffs for 58 goods, with the tariff for textile machinery parts dropping to 0-3 pct from 1-7 pct.

The administration also adjusted export tariffs on 110 products.

The export tariff on 11 non-ferrous metal primary products, including nickel, copper and alumina was raised to five pct.

The new rules will take effect on Nov 1.
