(Forbes, Oct 30, 2006) China's economy is expected to expand by more than 10 pct this year, Yao Jingyuan, chief economist of the National Bureau of Statistics said.

'The gross domestic product (GDP) growth this year will definitely exceed 10 pct,' Yao said at a forum in Shanghai.

GDP growth on an annualized basis slowed to 10 pct in the third quarter from 11.3 pct in the second, after a slew of tightening measures were introduced by the government to rein in fix-assets investment and to tighten control on land use.
