(Xinhua, Nov 29, 2006) Sanmenxia plans to build Henan Province¡¯s first wind power plant by 2008, and the city is accelerating preparation work for the project, disclosed by sources close to the Sanmenxia Municipal Government on Nov. 28, 2006.

The plant will be composed of 29 sets of 850-kv. Wind turbines, with total installed capacity of 25,000 kv. It will be put to operation upon construction completion in the first half of 2008. An investment of about RMB247m is expected to be made in the project.

Wang Xianzhang, senior engineer at the Department of Water Resources in Henan Province, said that the wind power plant would transmit 45.61m kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green electricity to the Central China Power Grid every year.
