(Sxcoal, Dec 30, 2006) Seven miners died after a coal mining shaft collapsed Thursday morning in southwest China, local work safety sources said on Friday.

The cave-in occurred Thursday morning at the Xinfa Coal Mine in Baiyuan District of Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province, when 19 miners were working underground, said the provincial work safety administration.

Twelve miners were lifted to the ground safely. Rescuers have found three bodies on Thursday, and the rest four by Friday evening, said the safety officials.

The coal mine has production permits and has a capacity of 30,000 tons.
