(Cpcia.org, Dec 29, 2006) On Dec. 28, 2006, Geophysical Research Institute, BGP of CNPC¡¯s first ¡°Xianfenghao¡± 3D seismic deepwater exploration vessel was successfully launched in Singapore, making CNPC to scale a new high in offshore oil and gas business.

It took US$65 million yuan to build the deepwater exploration vessel. In Jan. 2007, the vessel will be put to operation.

Wang Tiejun, managing director of Geophysical Research Institute, BGP, told Xinhua New Agency that the company has three deepwater exploration vessels, and that the numbers are expected to increase by two to three in the coming years.
