| Shanxi Province sees rise in coke export this year |

(Cctd.com, Dec 31, 2006) In the first eleven months of 2006, Shanxi Province exported 7.558 million metric tons of coke, up 37.7 per cent on 2005, accounting for 55.5 per cent of China’s total coke export of 13.62 million tons. During the same period, the province’s coke export prices reached an average of US$139.5 per ton, a decrease of US$191 per ton, or 26.9 per cent. Therefore, Shanxi Province suffered a loss of 4.1 billion yuan according to calculation based on last year’s coal export price. At present, China’s coke industry in facing a series of problems, such as overcapacity, resources waste, backward technologies, etc. Shanxi Province’s coal export is still bottlenecked by limited capacity of railway transportation. |
