1. Take a walk on Hengshan Road. Hengshan Road is best around sunset, when the streetlamps start to glow and there's no one around. Colonial manors, historic churches, street-corner parks, private gardens,bars and restaurants line this sycamore-shaded street. .

2. Give your eyes a treat at Xiangyanglu. This clothing supercenter, where you can buy the most fashionable skirts, avant-garde T-shirts, trendy handbags and the most new-wave shoes is a visual feast of color and fashion.

3. Pick up some DVD's on the cheap. Zixilu holds Shanghai's biggest concentration of pirated DVD shops. Here you can findthe latest and hard-to-find movies.

8. Get a dose of culture at Shanghai Museum. More and more fashionable young Shanghainese are taking dates to the Shanghai Museum. Apart from ten permanent exhibits, the museum regularly holds both domestic and international short-term exhibits such as Egyptian art displays, Tibetan cultural relics and Mayan artifacts. 9. Search for inspiration at Ikea Swedish furniture warehouse. Ikea is located on Longhua Xilu, next to Shanghai Stadium. Ikea's strengths lie in its smaller merchandise like paper lampshades, cloth CD cases, bell-bottomed vases, rag throw-rugs, flower-engraved bowls and mobile bookcases, which are affordable and funky. 10. Listen to music at M-box. M-box, short for music-box, , is a restaurant/club located on the third floor of Peregrine Plaza. You can find regular pop music shows in the club and pictures of Cui Jian, Zhang Xueyou, and other hot singers on the entrance mural. Even the menu here is in the shape of a compact disc case. 11. Reminisce at 1931. Situated on Maoming Nanlu bar street, 1931 is trying its best to preserve several brilliant threads of old Shanghai.. 12. Have a brew in Paulaner. Paulaner restaurant, reconstructed from the house of Bai Chongxi, a civil-war period Kuomingtang official , is Shanghai's most famous German restaurant/bar. German-style black beer brewed on location is beyond compare. Paulaner's wooden furniture and stained glass windows come from the old churches of Bayern. 13. Go dancing at Pujin. Located in the Qun Building of Jinmao Tower, Pujin Recreation Center is the newest and hottest nightclub downtown.
