The 2nd HYDROPOWER FOR TODAY FORUM is opened in Hangzhou On April 23, 2006. More than 200 delegates from home and abroad attend the three-day Forum and will exchange opinions and discuss on success and lesson from development policy, environmental issues in hydropower development, global small hydropower and technologies and international cooperation on small hydropower, focusing on the theme of the Forum: Policy Stimulating Hydropower Development.

Vice Minister of Water Resources of China, Mr. Hu Siyi delivers a welcome speech in English at the Opening Ceremony, and followed by welcoming words from Mr. Qin Huasun, former Chinese Permanent Representative to United Nations, Mr. Rigg, Chair of IEA Hydropower Technologies & Programme, Mr. Ferdinando, Secretary of Ministry of Power & Energy, Sri Lanka and others.

The Forum will end up with a Hangzhou Statement to facilitate development of green power and accountable development of hydropower in a competing age.

Small Hydropower Center is jointly established by Chinese Government and UNDP, UNIDO and regional energy development organizations and has adopted more than 60 countries members and over 300 member organizations.
